It all begins with an idea

Proper aftercare is essential for maintaining the longevity and appearance of eyelash extensions. Here are some general aftercare instructions for eyelash extensions:

  • Avoid Getting Them Wet: For the first 4 hours after getting eyelash extensions applied, avoid getting them wet to allow the adhesive to fully bond. This includes avoiding steam, water, and sweat from exercise.

  • Be Gentle: Treat your eyelash extensions gently and avoid rubbing or pulling on them. Be careful when cleansing your face and avoid using harsh products or rubbing the eye area vigorously.

  • Avoid Oil-Based Products: Oil-based skincare products, makeup removers, and cosmetics can weaken the adhesive bond of the eyelash extensions and cause them to fall out prematurely. Opt for oil-free formulas instead.

  • Use Water-Based Makeup: If you choose to wear makeup with eyelash extensions, use water-based or oil-free formulas to avoid damaging the extensions. Avoid waterproof mascara and eyeliner, as they can be difficult to remove and may require oil-based removers.

  • Brush Them Regularly: Use a clean spoolie brush to gently comb through your eyelash extensions daily to keep them neat and prevent tangling. This also helps distribute natural oils along the lashes. 1-2x/day is enough!

  • Avoid Sleeping Face Down: Try to avoid sleeping face down, as this can cause unnecessary friction on the eyelash extensions and may cause them to become misshapen or fall out prematurely. Using a silk pillowcase or silk eye-mask for sleep is a good option!

  • Avoid Using Mechanical Eyelash Curlers: Avoid using mechanical eyelash curlers on eyelash extensions, as they can damage both the extensions and your natural lashes. The extensions are already curled, so additional curling is unnecessary.

  • Attend Regular Touch-Up Appointments: Eyelash extensions will naturally shed with your natural lashes over time. To maintain a full and even look, schedule regular touch-up appointments every 2-4 weeks to replace any lost extensions.

  • Protect Them During Activities: Be cautious during activities such as swimming, saunas, and hot yoga, as exposure to excessive heat, steam, and moisture can weaken the adhesive bond of the extensions.

Following these aftercare instructions can help ensure that your eyelash extensions look beautiful and last as long as possible. If you have specific concerns or questions about aftercare, it’s always best to consult with your lash technician for personalized advice.
